It's interesting how you dissect the differing political instincts between Trump and Miller. What do you think this implyes for future DHS operations? Such sharp analysis.

Thank you! It's a great questtion. A main line of thought points to the argument between Homan and Noem about how to conduct Trump's immigration crackdown. The story is that Homan argued for only going after people with criminal records or charges against them, while Noem argued for creating these photo-op opportunities by conducting the kinds of sweeps that throw fear into everyone and create scenes that the can put online to demonize undoument migrants and the opposition that seeks to protect them. Noem won that battle, which probably means that Miller took her side (or that it was his idea to begin with), and Homan was sidelined for a while (in part to bury the bribery scandal.) Bringing him back suggests that Trump has gone over Miller's head and wants to stop these episodes that lead to pitched confrontations on the street and all these "bad optics" for his presidency. Miller is the second-most powerful person in the government, Trump XO, and Trump depends on him too much to marginalize him, so I am not sure that these sweeps based on ethnic and racial profiling will stop, but maybe they will become less visible. There's a tendency to see these episodes when Trump backs off and plays TACO as victories, but all they really are is temporary tactical retreats, so I am not hopeful that the situation will change that much for the millions of people under siege right now. A lot depends on whether Republicans in Congress match their actions to the rhetoric they have been using, and how hard the Democrats choose to push on the issue, with getting rid of Noem a sort of symbolic focus. It will be fitting and ironic if Noem does take the fall, along with Bovino, since she's an empty vessel. As long as Miller maintains his role, nothing will change except maybe the optics, I think..

Just hope "God's ears" are listening.

We'll see. Th einner workings of Trump's White House are as inscrutable to me as those of Chairman Xi's government. Bovino certainly fell fast and hard, cut off from his social media account and supposedly retiring.

Well, when Trump is cut off from his social media account we may be able to breathe easier!
